Winners of the Tri-County GATE Council grants/award
The Tri-County GATE Council is a volunteer organization that provides
opportunities for GATE teachers, coordinators, parents, and other interested
people to share information and support gifted programs and students through
special events and projects. Following is a list of recent Tri-County
GATE Council grant/award recipients.
- Student Grant ($100): Amaia Laskin and Johanna Laraway
- Grade 6, Adams Elementary School
- Paint a flag of the United States of America on the side of a
school building to promote patriotism. Students will use the flag
at the daily school-wide flag ceremony.
- Parent Grant ($200): Virginia Clarke and Julie Laraway
- Grade 6, Adams Elementary School
- Purchase microphones to enhance the production of a school-wide
video broadcast. Students learn basic filming techniques, online
editing skills, and behind-the-camera activities.
- Teacher Grant ($300): Jose Caballero
- Grades 11 and 12, Santa Barbara High School
- Purchase a Renewable Energy Education Set which will help demonstrate
critical engineering concepts.
- CAG Conference Grants: Nathalie Ireland, Grade 4, Franklin Elementary
School and Yolanda Salgado-Tovar, Grade 3, Cesar Chavez Charter School
- Grants in the amount of $750 were awarded to two district teachers
to attend the annual California Association for the Gifted (CAG)
Conference in Sacramento.
