Santa Barbara’s QAD supports local schools with technology

QAD representatives to award Project Upgrade grant to Franklin Elementary School on Monday

QAD Inc. is a Santa Barbara based company that delivers Enterprise Resource Planning software used by many leading global manufacturing companies. QAD has a strong commitment to the local community, and places a strong emphasis on education. QAD supports TeachNet, and a member of the Partners in Education President's Council.

A part of an ongoing program in partnership with the Santa Barbara School Districts and Santa Barbara County Education Office, QAD has put in place an initiative to support schools in providing state-of-the-art technology infrastructures to support educational programs. This program titled ‘Project Upgrade’ is aimed at ensuring children have the resources they need to be familiar with contemporary information technology and to equip them for the future.

As part of the program, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, QAD representatives will be presenting Franklin Elementary School with a grant of $24,000 to allow each classroom to add an additional two computer workstations. Principal Casie Killgore said, “QAD’s donation will allow technology to be used by students in every grade and possibly be used as a station to improve academic success through a different modality. We are so grateful and excited. Our students must be ready for the future, and there is no better way than prepared with technology.”

“It is a great pleasure to be able to support our local community,” said Pam Lopker, Founder and President of QAD “Ensuring our children have access to the right resources to equip them in future life is very important, and we remain committed to Project Upgrade as a way of supporting this”

This latest grant follows similar sized grants made to several other schools in recent years, including Harding Elementary School, McKinley Elementary School, and Cesar Chavez Charter School. QAD, and it’s founders Pam and Karl Lopker have maintained a strong focus on the community since QAD’s foundation in Santa Barbara 30 years ago, making grants to Santa Barbara City College and Santa Barbara High School.
