Now in its 15th year of operation, Santa Barbara High’s Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is underway, serving low-to-moderate income community members. Teacher Lee Knodel, aka “Ms. B,” reports that the students have filed 100 tax returns so far. It is tax time and Santa Barbara High’s VITA students are serving the community from 3:00-6:00 p.m. each Thursday in room 22. The IRS-trained students are assisting clients and filing IRS Form 1040. For more information, call (805) 963-8597.
Santa Barbara High’s VITA program is part of the Santa Barbara County Education Office Regional Occupational Program, which provides a wide variety of specialized employment training to students.
