Last week San Marcos High School had five students compete in the Lions Club Speech Contest, "Universal Health Care, How Will It Affect Us?" David Childs, Anjuli Das and Betyel Kahsai spoke for the Goleta Lions and Heather Ehlen and Jonathan Ochi spoke for the Host Lions Club. All five of these students represented San Marcos royally and spoke on a very difficult topic. They each received $25 for their efforts. David Childs won for the Goleta Lions and Jonathan Ochi won for the Host Club and each earned an additional $50. David and Jonathan now go on to the next level of competition against other club winners from Ventura County. The top prize of $25,500 is only five contests away.
