A shooting in the Harding School neighborhood prompted a lockdown yesterday morning. Upon receiving information of a possible threat, Dr. Sally Kingston immediately initiated the lockdown and Harding teachers and staff activated their emergency plan. According to Dr. Kingston, the Harding team responded immediately and without question, followed lock-down procedures, focused on their students’ safety, remained calm, and found creative ways to address student needs. She said, “Our team work yesterday reflects a high level of collaboration and professionalism.” Today, Harding was focused on instruction and staff was available to address student safety concerns. Also, Dr. Kingston sent a letter to parents about yesterday’s violent incident and included the National Association of School Psychologists’ “Talking to Children About Violence: Information for Parents and Educators” Information for Parents and Educators.”
