Santa Barbara High’s Ken Myers was the first place, gold medal winner of this year’s Santa Barbara Northside Optimist Club’s essay contest. The essay topic was “The Internet: Today’s Evolution or Tomorrow’s Menace?”
The same topic was addressed in the Optimist’s oratorical contest, with separate categories by gender. Recipient of a first place gold medal was San Marcos High’s Zachary Sener. Melissa Marino, also from San Marcos High, took third place. Each of the first place winners goes on to compete at the district level of competition in their respective category. At the district level, the winners are eligible for scholarship awards. Congratulations Ken, Zachary, and Melissa.
