Dos Pueblos High School’s Engineering Academy Team 1717, informally referred to as the D’Penguineers (a play on DP Engineers), took first place in the Los Angeles Regional FIRST Competition in Long Beach on March 25-26 and are now headed to the April 15-17, 2010, National FIRST Robotics Championships in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. In addition to their first place win, the team received the competition’s Engineering Inspiration Award for their leadership in community service, recognizing their leadership in community service, advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, and for their efforts to raise money toward the building of their Engineering Academy building.
