Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13, at approximately 10:15 a.m., San Marcos High School will be the scene of staged drunk driving accident when the school participates in Every 15 Minutes. San Marcos High received a grant from the California Highway Patrol and California Department of Transportation to fund the Every 15 Minutes Program this year. This program is based on the statistic in which Every 15 Minutes someone in the United States dies from a drunk driving related accident.
The program consists of a realistic crash scene that will be set up in the school turnaround (next to the gym). This will be viewed by all juniors and seniors at San Marcos High School. Then on Wednesday, April 14, there will an assembly for all juniors and seniors where a video of the accident and powerful guest speaker will share real life experiences with drinking and driving. Every 15 Minutes was planned to take place prior to prom and senior activities to impress upon the students the importance of not drinking and driving.
