On Saturday night, April 10, San Marcos High School’s Madrigal Singers were honored to receive the highest score at the Heritage Festival in Seattle. The two-day festival included choir performances from schools in Nevada, California, Montana, Washington, Alabama, and Indiana. Carolyn Teraoka-Brady reports, “The combined score from three judges was 98 out of 100 and we also received an invitation to the Heritage Festival at Carnegie Hall next year. We had a great performance and a clinic with a professor from northern California.”
On Friday, April 9, the San Marcos High School Wind Ensemble (concert band) traveled to the Lakeside High School Band and Orchestra Festival in Lake Elsinore, CA. Band director Jason Nam reports that the group was one of the only ensembles to earn the festival's top honor, unanimous "Superior" ratings.
