For the seventh year in a row, Santa Barbara Channelkeeper has produced an ocean-themed juried student art show, "What the Channel Means to Me." The show features a wide range of creative expression, from ceramics and oil paintings to jewelry, but all 69 works on display focus on celebrating our coast and ocean. The show is on display until May 8 at the Kim Kieler Gallery at 1 No. Calle Cesar Chavez.
Channelkeeper Awards included first place to Alexis Ireland from San Marcos High School for "Cousins by the Sea.” The Environmental Ethic Award went to Miriam Marcuse, Dos Pueblos High School for “(Sp)oiled Sea.” The first place Gallery Award went to Cece Alvarado, Santa Barbara High for “Sand Dollar.”
