National School Nurse Day is May 12
National School Nurse Day was established in 1972 to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting. National School Nurse Day is Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Thank you school nurses Cindy Cheung, Michelle Melendez, Cassandra Ornelas, Liz Christen, and Debbie Pentland.
Our school nurses provide emergency health care; deliver intervention services; manage acute and chronic illnesses; conduct health screenings; implement prevention programs; promote environmental health and safety awareness; provide health counseling; comply with state immunization requirements; as well as collaborate with and support school personnel, families, and the community for optimal health care.
