San Marcos High’s Social Studies Film Festival

On Thursday, May 13, students from San Marcos' social studies classes attended the Second Annual Social Studies Film Festival in the San Marcos auditorium. Throughout the school year, students created films in their World History and U.S. History classes. These films were submitted for consideration to the festival’s nomination committee. Over 20 films were nominated in six categories. Awards were presented in the categories of best interview, best use of film clips, highest production value, best documentary, best music or sound, best costumes and creativity, and best action scene.

Five films were shown in their entirety and students in attendance voted for the best picture of the year. The "Royal" for best picture was presented to juniors Ally Shiras, Alejandro Botello, Zoe Kirker, Zach Colegrove, Jenna Alcantar and Tristan Lake from Ms. Wood's U.S. History class.

The event showed off the best of academic research, technical expertise, and the pride San Marcos High’s students take in producing great class projects.
