Last night, the board of education enthusiastically approved the Harding Early Years Program (HEYP) Program, Phase 2 proposal to the J.S. Bower Foundation for a three-year implementation plan that also assumes a long-term commitment through 2019. The proposal supports effective early care and education through a comprehensive, coordinated network of support spanning children ages 0-5 and their families living in the Harding School neighborhood.
Examples of some of the elements of the HEYP proposal include the AVANCE Parent-Child Education Program, the UCSB Family Strength Center, and a 0-5 family advocate.
The HEYP will serve as a model for our districts and the community.
