The New Cool, a newly released book about Dos Pueblos High’s Engineering Academy teacher Amir Abo-Shaeer and Team 1717
The New Cool: A Visionary Teacher, His First Robotics Team, and the Ultimate Battle of Smarts, by author and journalist Neal Bascomb, has been released. Mr. Bascomb’s web site summarizes the content: “The incredible story of one visionary teacher, his team of robotics rookies, and their ambition to design and build a robot in six-weeks that would be able to compete against the best in the world. A story of education, science, and what it takes create something extraordinary.”
Amir Abo Shaeer is the director of the Dos Pueblos High School Engineering Academy, a program of the Regional Occupational Program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office.
