September 17 is Constitution Day. It is the day when schools shall hold exercises to commemorate the U.S. Constitution and Citizenship Day, including exercises and instruction in the purpose, meaning, and importance of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Each school will determine the September 17 events for students. For example, La Cumbre Junior High eighth-graders will be informing the school over the intercom about the Constitution throughout the day. La Colina Junior High plans to post miniature flags on the flagpole grass area, have a reading about the U.S. Constitution and Citizenship Day, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and have a vocalist sing the National Anthem. Santa Barbara Junior High reports that is is going to be Red, White, and Blue Day. History teachers will be handing out a work sheet for extra credit that will focus on the framers and the student who makes announcements will read patriotic announcements.
