At yesterday’s meeting of the board of education, the board voted 5:0 to approve the tentative agreement between the Santa Barbara Unified School District and Santa Barbara Teachers Union for seven furlough days for the 2012-13 school year.
Furlough days will help to ensure the district’s current class sizes and maintain our distict’s focus on student achievement.
The implementation of the plan will be a two-day furlough at the start of the 2012-13 school year and the balance of the furlough days to be taken the last week of the school calendar. The days will be deducted from employee salaries on an annualized basis across 10 months.
