La Cuesta Kicks Off Jeans Drive

Students in the Leadership Group at La Cuesta High School are conducting the first annual “Teens for Jeans” drive to collect new or gently used jeans to donate to local community organizations. All jeans collected in this community-wide drive will be distributed to Noah's Anchorage Youth Crisis Center and the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center.

Principal Kathleen Abney says, “We hope to gather at least 100 pairs of jeans. Students in the Leadership Group will wash, sort and categorize the jeans to be donated and will then arrange to make the donations sometime after the May 25 close of the drive.” Donations can be dropped off at La Cuesta High School, 710 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA.

La Cuesta students are planning to do a “Teens for Jeans” drive each fall and spring, along with the annual “Read for a Claus,” where elementary age children are invited to meet Santa, enjoy popcorn and hot cocoa and choose an age appropriate book to take home with them.
