Half-Day Preschool Enrollment For the 2012-13 School Year

On May 1, 2012 the Child Development and After School Program Business Office, located at 721 E. Cota Street (in the bungalow off the Santa Barbara Junior High School parking lot), began half-day preschool pre-registration for the 2012-2013 school year. The half-day preschools operate for three hours in the morning or three hours in the afternoon. Families must meet the California Department of Education/Child Development Division income guidelines in order to qualify for the program. Most half-day preschools follow the school district’s calendar and thus operate approximately nine months each year. Priority is given to those children entering kindergarten in 2013-2014.

All preschool classrooms are staffed with a qualified teacher and an instructional assistant and provide a curriculum rich with developmentally appropriate instructional materials. Children are instructed in small and large groups as well as encouraged to initiate their own learning while receiving guidance and support from nurturing staff members. All of the district’s preschools are licensed by the California Department of Social Services/Community Care Licensing Division.

If you know of someone who will be in kindergarten a year from now and may be interested in pre-enrolling in a half day preschool program, please refer them to Elena Prado, 965-4633 ext. 253. The Child Development and After School Program Business Office is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Half-day preschool site will be Adams, Cleveland, Franklin, and McKinley elementary schools, Las Flores, Peabody Charter School, and Santa Barbara Community Academy.
