District Office Joins Schools in Making a Positive Impact on the Environment

During the past year, numerous combination drinking fountain/bottle filler stations have been installed at various school sites. These new fountains furnish chilled filtered water and have eliminated countless plastic bottles. Our school district continues to focus on going green. One station has been installed the district’s maintenance/warehouse and one is currently being installed on the first floor of the district office. The unit is a Elkay model LZS8WSVRSK with a 3,000 gallon filter.

For fiscal year 2013 and beyond, these stations will allow the school district to eliminate most of the general fund water purchases, saving thousands of dollars as well as being "green.” The maintenance department will change the filters when the dispenser indicates it is time, just as the department does for the school sites.
