Elks Lodge Provides Scholarships for District Students
Santa Barbara Elks Lodge #613 recognized six district students on Friday night, June 29. Each student received a $1,000 college scholarship. Following is a list of the Elks Lodge #613 2011-2012 Student of the Month scholarship recipients:
- Santa Barbara High School
- Joskua Carrillo (scholarship in honor of William Muncaster). Cumulative grade point average 4.3. Attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautica University in Prescott, AZ. Major: aerospace engineering.
- Irvin Lazaro (scholarship in memory of Jim Dick). Cumulative grade point average 4.3. Attending Santa Barbara City College with plans to transfer to University of California. Major: finance.
- San Marcos High School
- Maria Lorenzano (scholarship in memory of Jack Peterson). Cumulative grade point average 4.2. Attending University of California-Los Angeles. Major: undecided.
- Alejandrina Lorenzano (scholarship in memory of Steve Brown). Cumulative grade point average 4.15. Attending University of California-Los Angeles. Major: undecided.
- Dos Pueblos High School
- Jennifer Otis (scholarship in memory of Herb Sowers). Cumulative grade point average 3.7. Attending Arizona State University. Major: family and human development.
- Lerina Winter (scholarship in memory of Michael Pickett). Cumulative grade point average 4.2. Attending Maryland Institute College of Art. Major: graphic design.
