Santa Barbara High graduate Kami Craig (Class of 2005), a women’s water polo center, is headed for the London Olympics. She is a member of the U.S. Olympic water polo squad. Recipient of a silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, she is considered to be one of the top centers in women’s water polo.
According to her bio, Kami holds Santa Barbara High School’s record for single-season goals (123) and most goals scored in one game (9). She received numerous honors while in high school as well as during her USC career, including female winner of the 2009 and 2010 Peter J. Cutino Award as college game’s best player. She is the only female player to have won the prestigious award twice.
Yesterday, Kami scored in the U.S. Olympic Women’s Water Polo Team’s battle against Hungary. Team USA won 9-4. Next up for Team USA is a match with Hungary to open the 2012 Olympic Games on July 20.
