News from the Santa Barbara Community Academy

Wednesday, August 29 is Parent Safety Night at Santa Barbara Community Academy. Principal Alicia Saballa-Santana will focus on the role that parents play in keeping their school and students safe. Parent Safety Night will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

Principal Saballa-Santana reports that all teachers are using Apple TVs and iPads in the course of instruction. On August 14, Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO) conducted training on the basics. SBCEO representatives will visit the Academy again in October and November to provide continuous training on the system.

The Academy is moving forward on renewing its certification as an official Core Knowledge school. Tim Quiroz will be working closely with staff on the certification process and will be conducting the first workshop on August 28, 2012. Principal Saballa-Santana anticipates certification will be a two-year process.
