Classified salary schedule, range 50. Initial placement shall be determined according to training and experience; maximum salary placement will be mid-range. This position is covered by employee selected insurance plan. Benefits include holidays, vacation and sick leave.
Under the supervision of the director of research and evaluation and technology, performs various technical coreview of assessment data.
Submit accurate state reports and testing information data electronically; provide training and procedures to users in relation to these elements; responsible for programming duties to import and export data from the student information system for accurate reporting of student and teacher demographics; implement the student information system including beta testing and reports such as the R-30 language census and student information system user meetings; participate in the data management subgroup committee for CSIS; provides technical assistance to all staff, particularly with the student information system, district personnel, financial and child development systems; precode district and state tests to assure data requirements of the precodes and verification of data elements in the student information system; implement and maintain district reports such as English learner profile, GATE profile, retention data and enrollment data, and fiscal services for P1, P2 and P Annual as requested; reports include but not limited to are staffing data, reports for state programs and grants, reports for county departments; data review of CAHSEE and STAR data to ensure accurate demographics are reflected; ensure that state data requirements are maintained in the student information system; set up and train users on use of the student information system; maintain a clean and orderly work environment; install, test, and configure all software as required; assist personnel in the selection of available reports, and writing queries for custom reports.
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of education in computer applications and experience with related data bases in a complex public or private sector, experience with California ADA negative/positive attendance accounting procedures and of the current student information system student record keeping system are desirable.
Knowledge and Abilities: Intermediate knowledge about computers in general and in particular, PC and MacIntosh systems , and the internet; trains personnel with implementing procedures to ensure accuracy in gathering and reporting computer information for various programs, modern office practices, procedures and equipment; operation of both Macintosh and IBM compatible personal computers. district organization, operations, policies, and objectives; oral and written communication skills; applicable sections of state education codes and other federal, state, county and district laws, policies, rules and regulations; technical aspects of field of specialty; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; record keeping. Ability to use complex relational database systems; write complex database queries and write directions for technical procedures for use by inexperienced personnel; trace problems to their source and devise solutions; learn, use, instruct others in the use of the current student information system and financial systems software; apply record keeping principles to the maintenance of records; learn office policies, rules and practices; read, write, speak and understand English; follow oral and written directions; type accurately at an acceptable rate of speed; meet schedules and timelines; plan and organize work; work confidentially with discretion; work independently with minimum supervision; communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, technical staff, outside agencies, and auditors on all matters related to district information systems; analyze situations accurately, adopt an effective course of action or improve procedures; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record to qualify for insurability by the district’s insurance carrier. Verification of driving record will be required of applicant selected for position (contact Department of Motor Vehicles).
Physical Abilities: Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; seeing to read a variety of materials; sitting for extended periods of time.
