Classified salary schedule, range 37. Initial placement shall be determined according to training and experience; maximum salary placement will be at mid-range. This position is covered by employee selected insurance plan. Benefits include holidays, vacation and sick leave.
Under general direction of the Healthy Start/After School Education and Safety(ASES) programs director and overseen principally by the program supervisor, the site coordinator prioritizes and performs a variety of duties to manage daily implementation of the ASES program at a designated school site and is responsible for supervising program leaders and assuring safety of students. The site coordinator works closely with ASES/Afterschool Opportunities for Kids(A-OK) management team, program partners, school personnel and families and assures that ASES/A-OK program policies and practices are followed and program goals are being achieved at the site.
Supervise daily organization and implementation of ASES/A-OK activities at the site and assure safety of participants; provide daily supervision of ASES/A-OK program leaders and communicate regularly with staff supervisor of any ASES/A-OK program leaders provided by another agency; participate in evaluation of program leader job performance; follow all ASES/A-OK policies and procedures and school policies and assure that ASES/A-OK staff and students are following them; promote a positive and respectful atmosphere for students, staff, parents and visitors that encourages learning, participation and cooperative behavior; conduct ASES/A-OK staff meetings weekly or more frequently as needed and attend required ASES/A-OK management meetings, events, and trainings; communicate regularly and meet as requested with ASES/A-OK program supervisor to discuss program progress, needs and to voice any concerns or suggestions; communicate with site principal and teachers, partner agencies’ ASES/A-OK staff supervisors, FSA family advocate, and parents or guardians, as appropriate, about ASES/A-OK student or program needs, progress, problems, or questions; set up student groups as appropriate to age levels and establish daily rotation schedule for participation in activities and clubs to align with overall program schedule established by ASES/A-OK management team; oversee proper maintenance of equipment, materials and supplies and submit supplies requests to appropriate ASES/AOK staff for replenishment or replacement as needed; supervise sign-in and sign-out of each student and departure of bussed students; maintain required data, records and forms and turn in to appropriate supervisor or agencies (daily attendance logs, accident and incident reports, time sheets, surveys); provide information or assistance to the ASES/A-OK evaluation team as requested; substitute for a program leader in the event that no substitute is available; assure that program leaders and substitutes document work hours daily on the payroll sheet, verify accuracy of monthly total and submit on time to ASES/A-OK program supervisor; verify volunteer hours entered into volunteer notebook. Perform other ASES/A-OK related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred with teaching experience preferred, but consideration will be given to individuals who passed the CBEST and have a minimum two years documented equivalent work experience, backed by recent, positive recommendations. Candidates must have a minimum two years experience supervising adults and serving in leadership role and two years recent experience working with elementary school age children in an academic and enrichment program. Must be fluent in English. Spanish skills preferred but not required
Knowledge and Abilities:Supervision techniques to provide clear direction and effective support to adult workers and children; provide effective leadership and respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations; work independently and constructively contribute to a collaborative team; organize and effectively deliver staff training on appropriate techniques of staff supervision and team building; techniques to assist children with homework, to develop cooperative behavior and to support appropriate academic and recreational activities for children; perform duties with constant interruptions, plan and organize work, meet schedules and time lines; operate computer and use other standard office equipment, enter and retrieve data, use a variety of software programs including Word and Excel; communicate effectively, use correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy, including telephone techniques and etiquette, and to work confidentially with discretion; establish and maintain good public relations with students, staff, parents, program partners, school personnel, and the public within a multi-cultural setting; interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Licenses and Other Requirements: Possession of a valid California driver’s license required. Completion of fingerprint process and freedom from tuberculosis clearance. CPR and First Aid Certification (can be obtained in an ASES/A-OK training session).
Physical Abilities:Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; seeing to read a variety of materials; bending at waist, kneeling or crouching to store or retrieve materials; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to reach and store supplies and equipment; ability to drive a car.
