Job Description: Stock Clerk/Delivery Driver

Salary

Classified salary schedule, range 27. Initial placement shall be determined according to training and experience; maximum salary placement will be mid-range. This position is covered by employee selected insurance plan. Benefits include holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Definition

Under the direction of the purchasing coordinator, performs inventory, general warehouse receiving, stocking, and pulling orders.

Examples of Duties

Perform a variety of warehouse duties, including receiving, storing and pulling supply orders, delivering and picking up equipment and supplies and tagging and checking in purchase orders; issue and receive warehouse supplies and equipment; maintain issues and receipts on computer-based inventory system. Operate District vehicles to pick up and deliver food, materials and supplies to District cafeterias and school sites; pick up and deliver incoming and outgoing inter-District mail. Collect monies from schools and make bank deposits according to established procedures; process related paperwork. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and dollies in loading and unloading vehicles; move materials and store items as required. Participate in warehouse operations, including maintaining an accurate inventory of warehouse stock. Perform custodial duties to maintain the warehouse in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Standards

Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year warehousing experience.

Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of basic methods, practices and terminology used in warehouse operations; methods and practices used in receiving, storing, disbursing and delivering supplies and equipment; operation of postal machines, computer terminal and related equipment; basic record-keeping techniques; basic inventory methods and practices; Vehicle operation and routine maintenance; operation of a variety of warehouse equipment; state Motor Vehicle laws and ability to perform general warehouse receiving, stocking, pulling orders and load trucks; drive a vehicle to deliver materials as assigned; perform various warehouse duties related to the receipt, storage and inventory of supplies, materials and equipment; drive an assigned vehicle to pick-up and deliver supplies, equipment and materials; observe legal and defensive driving practices; assist in maintaining inventory; operate a computer terminal to maintain issues and receipts to locate and retrieve data; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; understand and follow oral and written directions; meet schedules and time lines; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record to qualify for insurability by the District's insurance carrier.

Physical Abilities: Lifting heavy warehouse stock; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; standing for extended periods of time; bending at the waist; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and warehouse equipment; climbing ladders and working from heights.
